    Thrum

Also known as loom or warp waste, ‘Thrum’ refer to warp threads left on the loom
after the textile cloth has been removed.
I have drawn inspiration from this waste material,
engineering contrast between the rigid woven grid and the soft flowy fringes.

By altering material behaviour or manipulating the way matter is perceived,
I create work that people want to touch, experience or interact with,
    causing inspiration and awareness.

'Thrum' was created for the MUTANT MATTER exhibition
presented during Milan Design Week 2018,
initiated by Dutch Invertuals in collaboration with Franklin Till.

With design collective Dutch Invertuals and futures research agency FranklinTill,
we proposed not just a new collection, but entirely new ways of thinking
about what 'making' means in the Anthropocene era, exhibiting radical design concepts and investigations into possibilities of our new material future.
