About

Fransje Gimbrère is a Dutch designer and artist based in Eindhoven. Her work bridges the realms of craftsmanship, innovation, and human experience. She combines visual and tactile sensitivity with an intellectual, research-based approach and a deep understanding of materials, craftsmanship, and production techniques—creating projects that seamlessly connect aesthetics with function.

Her practice, rooted in research and experimentation, explores the intersection of art and science, particularly how design influences perception, emotion, and well-being. Whether through installations like the tactile and ethereal Crafted Columns and Standing Textile(s) series or site-specific commissions such as Cirrus and Physis, her work engages the senses and communicates with viewers on both conscious and subconscious levels. She often collaborates with clients and institutions to develop bespoke pieces that foster meaningful interactions between people and their environments.

Beyond her creative practice, Gimbrère is a dedicated advocate for the arts and culture. As a board member of Cultuurfonds Brabant, head of the Foundation Year at Design Academy Eindhoven, and advisor to governmental institutions, she highlights the vital role of the arts in fostering individual and social health and well-being. She believes in the power of art and culture to enrich personal lives and strengthen communities by fostering connection and a shared sense of purpose. Her passion for these topics is reflected in her designs and efforts to engage with broader societal challenges.

Gimbrère welcomes commissions and collaborations with clients, curators, collectors, and institutions—whether it be bespoke commissions, exhibitions, consultations, or conversations on the transformative power of arts and culture.
